Bastion is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Talus with a population of 8,866,180. Bastion is commonly referred to as the Indestructible City and the City of Gold due to its former large fortresses built during the 15th century and sitting on large deposits of gold.
After the arrival of Talisians from the Huggie kingdom (see history of the Huggie Union and Talus) one important Talisian named Victor Hillsend founded the settlement of Hillsend in 1301 after being kicked out of James Fogus' team to build a new capital city. Hillsend gathered many individuals to create the new settlement and became it the defacto capital and largest city of the new settlement of Talus. Victor Hillsend died in 1309 mysteriously possibly being linked to an assassin hired by James Fogus. In 1401 Benjamin Martin stole thousands of Talisian goats and cows to sell for coins to start construction of large fortresses outside of the city and inside is where many started to live and it became known as the area of Bastion. (Hillsend now exists as a separate neighborhood.) In 1409 Bastion was the only country to survive the Shadistikan raid on its city because of the fortresses. Benjamin Martin demanded a statue of himself for his "great work" during the war but instead was beheaded instead due to his "overconfidence." Later in 1533 the Historic Working Men of Talus founded the Victor Hillsend museum with a large statue of him and in outside Hillsend there was a Benjamin Martin statue near the Benjamin Martin House. From the mid to early 20th century the Huggie Empire took over Talus and Bastion was the administrative capital of the Imperial region of Talus until 1950 when Talus became independent yet again.
