September 24th

Congress met today in Huggie City from around 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM, discussing several acts

West Northwest Speb was given $20,000 for a transportation improvement act, primarily for the city of Nogorograd. This was part of Act RA26-39WNS and was fast tracked approved by Congress.

Comment from editor: West Northwest Speb requested the grant solely for the prominent West Coast city of Nogorograd back in 2023; however, major lawsuits against the state sidetracked the act, especially since there were major other energy acts for the state that were proposed before the transportation act was. The act was near expiration before a refiling would be required, and it was rectified today, September 24th, 2026. It would've expired October 1st, 2026. 

Birlie was given $26,000 for a transportation improvement act. This was part of Act RA26-27BIR

Comment from editor:  Birlie had passed this act earlier this year and was waiting for federal funding until today. It was deemed non-important by the state of Birlie, but was sidetracked until September. This comes amid failing public transportation and, for the fourth year in a row, ranking worst in pedestrian safety and second-to-worst in public transportation statewide.

Huggie City, under Upgradding state orders, removed the Safety Lift, which barred people from leaving their homes yesterday and was put in place after riots by more than 40,000 homeless people caused 12 fatalities in the city.

Furthermore, Congress signed an emergency bill funneling more than $60 billion into the Homeless Huggyos Fund after it was defunded to a $120,000 budget just last month. This comes at a time where homless roam the streets of the Huggie Union and take shelter under highways and structures. The sudden budget increase is likely due to the large protests, the housing price epidemic, the riots, and the 8.9 million homeless Huggies (about 0.56% of the nation's more-than-one-billion population). This budget increase was part of NA26-347

Furthermore, the following acts remain unvoted or unsigned:

Removal of the Head of the Union Act: Expires 1/1/2027 if not signed; removes the office of the Head of the Union, the office into which former President Liam Souza declared himself last year. The act is unanimously popular, and the specifications involve putting Souza back in the presidency, confirming major congressional checks. 

Declaration of War on the Corridor Islands: Expires 10/1/2026 if not signed; will likely not be signed but is an act that involves a second military invasion of the Corridor Islands. The act was prompted earlier this year when Talus and Xentus liberated the Corridor Islands from their increasingly fascist government, but critics said it "undermined the Huggie Union's presence in the area." If the act did pass, however, Souza would have to approve the invasion himself because he is officially Commander-in-Chief.

Huggie City, under Upgradding state orders, has signed the Safety Lift, which bars people from leaving their homes, and was put in place after riots by more than 40,000 homeless people caused 12 fatalities in the city.
