Exotica fruits are a commonly found solid bean that can be harvested in the ground, distinguished by their brown look. Despite their name, exotica fruits are actually not a seed-bearing structure in flowering plants known as a fruit; rather, they are considered a member of the phaseolus vulgaris (bean) family. Bartholomew Hangside found exotica fruits in the hands of native Huggyos in 1549 and coined them "la exotica fruit vo je norde! (the exotic fruit of the north)" and it became officially known as the exotica fruit despite them not being a fruit at all. Attempts were made in the 19th century to rename them to exoticus, but they failed as smoke stick smoking was becoming increasingly popular with broiled exotica fruit rolled in sticks for inhalation and exhalation for "cool" smoking effects.
Broiled exotica fruit is exotica fruit after it is exposed to radiant heat. It is then cooled into a powdery herb-type substance to be sold in containers. It is most commonly purchased to be smoked with smoking sticks.
